So we took our furry baby out to my co-worker's farm east of Crossfield today to meet his dogs Scotty and Goldie. Scotty is a 4 yr old male, big retreiver/perense (sp?) and about 40 pounds and a foot taller at the shoulder than Lady. Goldie is female, about the same size but 13 yrs and suffering with arthritis. We wanted to make sure that the dogs would get along and Daryl's family is graciously going to Lady-sit our dog so we can go to Saskatoon for 4 days in July to visit Luther's dad. The boarder we like is already booked and it's on the complete other side of the city from us and extremely inconvenient. Plus the extra $$ is something we don't have since this wasn't a pre-planned trip really. We have left Lady in the possesion of my parents for short overnights, or they've simply come to our house a couple times to let her out, feed her, etc. But my mother does have allergies to this particular dog - not all dogs, but apparently to Lady's breed, and more than 1 night gets to her. And I don't want them coming up and back 3 times a day for 4 days... or more if we're blessed with really hot weather and she needs more water.
So I spoke to Daryl and if things went well today, she was welcome to stay.
I'm ecstatic to say the dogs sniffed, licked, and ran around marvelously. Lady is definately out of shape compared to Dary's all muscle dogs, but a few days should whip her into shape. It'll be a doggie vacation! And my mother will not have to top up on Benydryl!
Wagging tails = happy!!
